Dare they dream?

Dare they dream?

Chelsea started off the season in blistering form, and to their standards, so did West Brom. Over the last three months, WBA are proving to be a team not easily overturned. They have gone from strength to strength, and sit at a comfortable fourth- a point behind Chelsea.

Despite not much investment over the summer, the coach has done tremendously well to understand and motivate his team. Their play has been exceptional at times; grinding out results when needed to.

On Saturday, they took on European champions Chelsea and ran away with all three points. For the millions of pounds invested by Roman over the summer on recruits such as Oscar, Moses and Hazard among others, such a performance just doesn’t cut it. Chelsea seemed to lack consistency- especially of late.

Defeats against United, Shaktar and WBA shows their cracks in defence. Using JT’s absence as an excuse for defeat not only highlights their over-reliance on the centre-back, but also subliminally suggests Di Matteo doesn’t fully trust Luiz, Cahill and Ivanovic’s abilities.

Either way, West Brom’s win over Chelsea provided a major boost in confidence- not that they lacked any at the moment.

It may be early doors, but early signs have shown a significant improvement in the team. Dare they dream of Europe?

Elsewhere, Arsenal picked up 3 vital points in the derby against Spurs, putting 5 past them for the second successive season. Though the sending of former Arsenal hitman may have helped their cause; a win is a win. Hopefully they can put a dreadful week behind them.

“The Comeback Kings” did not show up against the Canaries, as they were beaten 1-0. The scoreline may suggest a narrow win, however in truth, United were way below par. Though they could have saved their blushes with a point, Norwich’s keeper was on top form to deny them that. If anything, it was Norwich that could have added more goals to their tally- spurning a couple of chances. United may be desperate to show that the result was just a blip- however they may have to wait till the weekend. With United through to the next stage of the Champions League, Fergie may opt to rest his senior players and provide younger ones with a run-out against Galatasaray.

All in all- a weekend filled with thrills, goals and dropped points as the table continues changing.
