And the Reds go SCRAPPING on on on!

And the Reds go SCRAPPING on on on!

Yet again, the red side of Manchester found themselves behind for the umpteenth time this season; and yet again they came back.

Although comebacks are a mark of champions, true champions don’t create a scenario where a comeback is needed. United have had to come back from the jaws of defeat 8 times this season. The once solid defence has now turned very porous. With lapses in concentration at crucial moments, United have conceded far too often than they would have liked. They may be doing well at the other end, but it doesn’t help if they can’t shut their opposition out.

They have their strikers to save their blushes however. RVP’s hot streak augmented by the form of the little Mexican has propelled United to the summit. They seem to be playing the “Let’s score more than we concede” game, where importance is placed on the win solely. This is not the best approach, especially the manner in which they lost their title last season- on goal difference. They may be doing the business on one end, but it must be matched at the other end as well. That being said, the result was an epitome of Sir Alex’s legacy; the “never say die” attitude fuelled by the desire to succeed.

Though United may be topping the table in the Premier League and the Champions League, those statistics shouldn’t fool fans that all is well at the club.
